Coconut Froth

Coconut Froth | Coconut Latte Stout | Overtone Brewing Co

Back at the start of the year, February to be exact, we were delighted to announce that we were about to embark on a collaboration with one of our favourite breweries Glasgow based Overtone Brewing Co

This collaboration produced a wonderful seasonal Vanilla Latte Stout, aptly named Vanilla Froth. To our pleasure the success of this first brew quickly became one of the most popular beers in the Overtone range, reaching a striking 4.8 out of 5 on Untappd. Needless to say, there were plenty of empty glasses and smiles all round.

Jumping forward a few months, it was during the height of Summer that we finally met for the first time with the Overtone team at the Brew LDN beer festival to discuss the idea of re-brewing something using our Super Crema blend for the Winter. It was here that the idea for Coconut Froth was born.

Come the September of 2021 it was time to kick start the wheels into motion and we begun roasting and packaging our delicious Super Crema blend to ship up to Glasgow for master brewers Dan and Charlie to work their magic.

Coconut Froth was to be somewhat modelled on a Bounty chocolate bar, packed with chocolate flavour notes from the coffee, coconut and added milky lactose. It is for that reason that once again we elected our Super Crema blend to attain rich layers of cocoa, nuts and light notes of Cedar wood, imparted by the rich Arabica and Robusta coffee bean blend. The results are spectacular.

Upon opening the can you can expect sweet coconut to romance the senses before diving into a rich, sweet and malty bitterness of cedar wood, coffee and dark chocolate on the palate. This is further emboldened by the subtle spice aromas, of the Magnum hops, delicately adding a foray of black pepper and nutmeg to the mix.

Once the rich flavours melt away you are awarded an almost incomprehensibly smooth finish and mouthfeel from the added lactose, while dark cacao and coconut still linger long after your last sip. It’s hard to believe that this beer boasts a staggering 9.0 ABV due to how smooth it is.

With that said, we can only hope you enjoy this beer as much as we did making it. To find out more about the Overtone Brewing Co range, or purchase Coconut Froth, visit their website to get yours delivered here.

Beans stay fresher for longer, and so your coffee should taste better, too. As soon as green coffee beans are roasted, they start to release CO2, which affects the taste. They will oxidise and slowly start to go 'stale' and have a flat taste after a while. When coffee is ground, there is a higher surface area which is exposed to oxygen and that will cause them to lose their freshness faster, so it's best to keep coffee beans whole as close to brewing as possible. Treat your coffee beans similarly to potatoes: store them in a dark, dry place. It's best they are kept in a container or the bag they come in to stop oxygen and moisture getting in.
